Maximizes Travel Policy Compliance by Providing Authorizing Managers
With the Ability to Approve or Decline Trips Prior to Ticketing
BARRINGTON, Ill- April 1, 2005 - Trondent Development Corp., a global travel industry software developer has teamed with GetThere®, the leading provider of online corporate travel technology, to provide its corporate clients with a web-based pre-trip authorization capability. The pre-trip solution works with any global distribution system and is already being employed by major companies in North America and Latin America.
This automated, pre-trip approval process addresses a philosophical change occurring within many companies that have avoided the authorization process in the past. By incorporating Trondent's AirWEB Authorizer® technology into GetThere's online booking system, corporate travel managers and designated travel authorizers now have the ability to approve, decline, or request changes to various components of a traveler's itinerary prior to ticketing.
"Corporate Travel Managers are demanding automated solutions to manage the cumbersome and often inefficient process associated with reviewing and approving employee travel," says Dave Wood, Trondent's President & CEO. "AirWEB Authorizer® gives managers the tool they need to better control T & E expenses, while maximizing the returns associated with adhering to preferred supplier agreements."
The true value of the pre-trip authorization system is in the simplicity and flexibility of the process. Prior to a trip being ticketed, the authorizing manager receives an e-mail notification, linking the manager to a secure, easy-to-use web-based application listing all upcoming trips. If the trip is approved, it is immediately processed for fulfillment. If the trip is declined, it is submitted for cancellation and a written explanation is provided to the traveler. Or the authorizer can request the traveler to modify his or her travel plans. In all cases, the PNR is documented with the name of the authorizing manager along with the date, time and comments associated with the decision.
"Corporations continue implementing processes to help minimize travel costs. We've always offered companies the checks and balances to influence travel policy compliance, and we've seen an increase in the number of companies looking to implement a more stringent pre-trip approval process, and this solution addresses that need," said Bev Heinritz, general manager of GetThere.
